Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Orchestra students at our middle school are extremely hard workers. Through generous grants and donations, they have been able to begin taking private lessons and achieve a high level of playing that furthers their ability and drive to continue perfecting their instrument.
We are a Title I school with 88% of students on free and reduced-priced lunch.
We have over 150 students in the orchestra program with 100% of them renting instruments. We maintain a high standard of care for instruments and often times need new strings, cleaning supplies, rosin, bows etc. to keep instruments in good working order.
My Project
Donors and grants always think about donating the big picture items. Instruments, music stands, bows etc. But once you have all of these for your school it costs a lot of money to upkeep them!
We are doing a Donor's Choose for all the small miscellaneous items that we need everyday in orchestra class to be successful!
We are asking for name tags to put on all student instruments so that we never misplace anything! New strings because we are always needing to change them to have a great sound! Books and shoulder rests for the violins so that they can each have individual equipment to work with and be successful!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
