Help me give my students 25 books and sewing supplies to make the costumes, props, and sets for our all school musical The Little Mermaid during our 7-8 grade advanced theatre class.
We are looking forward to having our all school musical, but we need some help to get the props and costumes we need. This project will help us get books to study costume design, set design and architecture, and stage makeup as well as basic sewing supplies like pins, needles, seam rippers, tape measurers, and scissors. This is the first year a class has been offered to teach kids sewing skills and set design to make what we need for the musical and I am so excited to get started in January.
My students will be creating all of the props, costumes, and sets, as well as helping with the stage makeup for The Little Mermaid Musical during our advanced theatre class.
We have a lot of fabric that has been donated as well as five sewing machines and we will learn basic sewing skills and set construction. My students will be sewing stuffed animals to learn how to use the machine. I have been sewing since I was seven and will be able to put those sewing skills to good use. I have asked for the most basic supplies like pins, needles, and tape measures as well as some magnetic seam allowance guides for the sewing machines to make sewing easy for my students to learn. I also asked for seam rippers and lots of thread because they are learning a new skill and there will be mistakes. We will also use the wood and existing set pieces to paint scenery for the set and backdrop. With your help we will create many costumes, props, and sets and be ready for our opening night in May. We will also be able to use what we create for future musical productions.
