I have a wonderful bunch of 6th graders.

They are excited about learning and absolutely love to read. It is my goal to get them exposed to fantastic literature, such as The Lightening Thief. I am from a small school, located near a military base. Many of the students come from families that have served in the military.

My Project

My students enjoy reading novels as a whole classroom. They truly get immersed within the books they read and find ways to relate to the characters. They especially enjoy action and adventure stories, therefore The Lightening Thief is the perfect fit!

Having access to these books will assist my students in their ability to improve fluency, reading comprehension, and history.

Since the novel has many historical references, we will be able to merge reading and history into one lesson. Having access to exciting literature gets the students passionate about reading.
