My Students

Greetings! I have the wonderful opportunity of engaging K-5th grade students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) related activities daily. My students are curious about the world around them. Oftentimes, they share questions they have about the world around them.

75% of my students come from low income homes, making it difficult for them to experience our world beyond their immediate surroundings.

Though there are limitations, that has not curbed their curiosity.

The role I play in their educational career is important. The exposure they receive to STEM related fields can help steer them to a possible career as an engineer, technology specialist or scientist.

My Project

My students and I will study the life cycle of chickens through an embryology project. We will use the incubator and feeding sets to incubate chicken eggs and discuss the stages of their life cycle. The students will have the opportunity to turn the eggs daily to help with their development and track the growth of the embryos.

When the eggs hatch, the students will care for them for several days by feeding them and providing a safe habitat for them before they are taken to a nearby farm.

The students will then compare the life cycle of chickens to other animals and share similarities and differences.
