The Library Is Open...Once We Get More Books

My students need to read more books, such as eight "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" books, four "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", four of "The BFG", on their AR level, but I also want them to enjoy what they are reading.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Meeks's classroom raised $260

My Students

Give the gift of reading! If they like it, they will read it.

I have a great North Carolina,Title I, 5th grade class of 21 students who love to read.

Yes, you heard me correctly; they love to read! They love finding their own space when it is D.E.A.R (drop everything and read) time. They especially enjoy when I read to them. Right now, I am reading "The Jaguar Stones" and they can't get enough of it. Through my excitement and passion for reading, I have instilled in them the joy of reading a good book. We have been on many adventures through our books but now it's time to go some place new! I smell something chocolate!

My Project

My students need to read more books, such as eight Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, four Charlie and the Chocolate Factory four of The BFG, on their AR level, but I also want them to enjoy what they are reading. Our classroom library is full of out-of-date books. Help us on our quest to get fun, exciting, and adventurous books in our library so that the reading never stops. I want this section to have a waiting line! With these new books, students will be able to meet their AR goals and have fun while doing it. Students become better readers the more they read, so your gift will help students increase their fluency and comprehension skills.

As with many schools, funding is being cut across the board.

These funding cuts affect the school's ability to purchase more books on a continual basis because they need the funds for other administrative areas. Teaching a child to learn to read is a necessity, but inspiring a child to love reading is a gift worth its weight in gold.
