Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The school I work at is located in a small town that is full of diverse individuals. The town is very diverse in the population. Unfortunately, this town has gotten a reputation for being a place where there is little to no hope for its residents. Over the last few decades, the town has seen a number of homes become condemned, violence and poverty levels increased, and a number of businesses; including the large glass factory that was the last big employer in town has closed.

In spite of all of this going on, I look forward to walking through the doors of room A-17 to teach my kindergarteners.

This year, we have 20 wonderful scholars who are reaching for the stars in life. Each and every one of them has a passion for knowledge and I am often amazed at how they cling to everything we say and they ‘just do it.’ They want to learn. They are constantly seeking validation for their hard work and the smiles on their faces when we say ‘Good job’ pushes me to ensure they continue to grow. Words sometimes cannot express the way that I admire them. They have shown me love!

My Project

During this difficult time with Coronavirus, my students are struggling at home because they lack technology at home. My students need technology to help them with the various academic programs that we want them to do to help excel their knowledge of various subjects.

Giving the students Chromebooks at home will help to keep them learning at home.

This will allow me to give the student the one on one time that they deserve. I will do video chats, give them online assignments and give them the freedom of interactive learning games! These Chromebooks will boost their confidence! Thank you!
