Help me give my students the ability to see clearly my art-making demonstrations through a ladybug document camera that will magnify and project my lessons.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My elementary students come into my class excited to learn, discover and make new things in art. They love to paint, draw, build with clay, and discover new mediums (tools) to create with.
I teach elementary art to about 400 second- through fifth-grade students from diverse cultures, special needs and varying economic backgrounds.
Most students are of Hispanic origin, with some are recent immigrants from Venezuela, Columbia, and Cuba. These students bring diverse viewpoints to class discussions on art and art history. My aim is to provide all my art students with a variety of media and art forms for them to explore and create.
My Project
A ladibug document viewer will help each student see my art demonstrations clearly from their seat and working area. The biggest struggle I have with my art instruction daily is that some students can’t see or understand my art-making demonstrations when they are crowded around a small demonstration table or far away from a traditional dry erase board.
Fine details such as marks in drawings and paintings, folds on paper, and clay scoring instructions are often missed by some students because they can’t see the tiny marks from where they are standing and looking into my demonstration table.
This ladibug document viewer will magnify and project these art techniques to all my students and will enable them to see the fine details in their seats as well as follow along with me while creating their art projects. It will also serve another purpose; it can project and magnify the tiny details in famous art works from art history books. A great way to learn from the masters and not just me.
