This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Greetings!
I teach science for grades 3, 4,& 5 in New York City. After teaching here for many years I have developed quite the rapport with students, administrators as well as parents of the community. I love my classroom, I have decorated in a manner that not only reflects my own bubbly and high energetic personality but also stimulates and evokes curiosity in the young minds of my students.
I love my students, until they break my stuff. I mean, they are kids! So it is bound to happen. However I am determined that they have plotted a mastermind plan to destroy my pencil sharpener with excessive use and remove all the pink erasers from the tops of the pencils to infuriate me. I am certain that my students hold secret meetings at recess to devise plans and generate new ideas on how to cut up the erasers into little pieces and leave them scattered across the room. I buy new erasers, they destroy them. I bought a top of the line sharpener, they destroyed it to the point where the gears are grinding against each other. They have carefully executed a well founded plan to make me go out and buy a new sharpener and a gross of erasers.
However, little do they know, I am on a eraser strike! The pencil sharpener was a few years old and with wear it is starting to break.... but there was nothing wrong with those erasers. New erasers, old erasers, borrowed erasers, stolen erasers, blue erasers, green pencil top erasers... destroyed, destroyed, destroyed! I would love for a donation so I could buy more erasers and encourage the students to appreciate what people do for them by having students complete thank you letters for this gracious donation. I want them to understand that little things like erasers cost money. When you have to constantly replace them, they eventually cost a lot of money. I would love to buy a huge amount of school supplies but these times are tough and after a holiday season, money is tight... and so is the surplus of erasers.
I thank whoever graciously donates a cent to me and my cause. I love this site and the donors who contribute. Please help me smack some sense into my students and stop destroying the erasers!!
