Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This will make the difference in the lives of the students in my room. Some have limited reading and writing skills, and to have materials that will help them write will bring smiles to their faces and help in their communication and give them the opportunity to enjoy reading and improve writing.

All of my students have sensory impairments.

They get over stimulated by noise and lights and get easily frustrated throughout the day. It is important for them to have a safe sensory spot in our room where they can take a sensory break with a quiet and safe writing center . We currently have a spot where they can go and sit on a beanbag and use a sensory tool such as a pressure vest or weighted blanket and receive some much needed sensory input. Although we have the physical space, a new carpet and beanbag chairs, our center needs a writing area where my students can help their literacy and development skills. The spot will be clearly defined and it will also be a spot where the students can have a few private moments to take a break and become regulated and ready to return to classroom lessons.

My Project

Everyone benefits from a break at some point during their day. My students need these breaks more frequently than the average student. Won't you please help complete our break area with a writing center that will give my students a spot to take a much needed break and learn and appreciate the benefits of writing to improve their literacy skills? This will make the difference in the lives of the students in my room. Some have limited reading skills and communication skills. These materials will help them write and bring smiles to their faces and help in their communication. It will give them the opportunity to enjoy reading in a quiet and safe area in the room where they are able to enjoy the art of reading and writing.

This will help my students with autism to have a center where they can go to learn literacy skills and how to improve their writing and communication skills.

My students will love to have the opportunity to have an area where they can enhance, improve, and develop their writing and literacy skills.
