Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
FHS Interns are brave & bright students. They share their positive energy even when they may not feel their best. The interns are better prepared for their life after graduation initially because they are learning employability skills and sharpening soft skills. They will use the skills they are learning when they finish high school because they are using them currently with positive results.
These students have embarked on the journey of being placed in internships while they are in seniors in high school.
The room they are in was a school shop classroom. The space will be transformed into an office space to give students a professional business-like environment to prepare for placements. Interns prepare for their future by completing career explorations, resume writing, mock interviews, and listening to guest speakers. Students use the space to strengthen SEL (Social Emotional Learning) skills, strengthen their employability/soft skills and reflect on their experiences.
