This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a band teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, my band students work hard to become better musicians!

My students are energetic, eager, and love being a part of the band!

They love learning new music and music concepts and enjoy performing, not only inside our school at sporting events and pep rallies but in competitions and concerts, as well.

Many of them are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". For example, it is typical for most band students to own their own instruments, but due to circumstances out of their control, this is a very difficult "typical" to accomplish for mine.

From the minute they walk in the door of my band room, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I try to give them the best musical experience and care in our time together.

My Project

Band is a very interactive subject, but with my students participating in Remote Learning from home, it is hard to be interactive through just a computer screen. I want to use the 3 ring binders to create interactive notebooks that will house various parts of our Music Curriculum. I also want to be able to provide them with enriching Social-Emotional Activities that will be kept in the Notebook as well. These binders will serve as a "Band Memories" book and when we are able to come together for in-person learning, I hope they share their musical memories.

Help me be interactive with my students and provide us with Interactive Notebooks.

The copy paper, 3 ring binders, and Printer will allow me to provide a great learning tool for my students as they learn from home. My goal is to provide all of my students with this resource.
