Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in this Career Technical Education course will prepare the students for a Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management. Through hands-on activities and in-depth study of the culinary arts field, this course helps students hone their cooking skills and gives them the opportunity to explore careers in the food industry. The school is over 70% low income households looking for a alternative to colleges and universities. In this course, students learn all about food, including food culture, food history, food safety, and current food trends. They have hands on learning in our Culinary Lab.
My Project
These pieces of equipment are necessary to teach certain skills that we cannot correctly teach because we do not have the required equipment.
With this equipment I can show the students proper way for making Sorbet, Gelato, Sherbert, Ice Cream, and Frozen Custard.
We will be able to make fresh Sorbets, Gelatos, Sherbert, Ice Creams, and Frozen Custards for use in our lab and events.
We have some equipment but lack the necessary supplies to make the class function productively. My students are really excited about having this course and look forward to showing off their cooking skills in culinary competitions and during school sponsored events.
More than half of students from low‑income households
