I teach in a rural area where more than half of the children are below the poverty level and receive public assistance. Because of our high agricultural industry, many parents are migrant workers and move often to provide for their families. This fact alone puts many of our children at a disadvantage for learning. All students at our school receive free lunches due to the majority of the median incomes that our parents have. However, these odds do not stop our children from wanting to learn.
My classroom this year has eighteen children who are each unique and special to me.
My Project
My Kindergarten students love arts and crafts I would like to have a storage cart and caddy’s to organize our art materials to teach the students organization with arts and crafts. Right now all of our art materials are stored in a box very unorganized and not accessible to the students. Laminating film comes in handy when laminating our work for the parents to help preserve the masterpieces. We use lots of colorful duck tape, sequins, paint brushes and glitter stickers. Please help provide my students with some valuable resources to express creativity and develops a love for art and organization in our classroom.
