Help me give my students use the classroom space to maximize learning time. These floor-chairs foster focus and independence, and allow for “peaceful space ” in a crowded room. The tennis balls will keep our floor looking clean.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Sixth grade is a unique time when students go back and forth between needing comfort and help, while also trying out their independence. The most requested privilege is to sit somewhere besides their assigned desk. The reasons vary, but the goal is still the same—a special chair.
Providing seating options can enhance focus for many children.
It also supports working in groups, and tutoring one another.
Children are often stressed, whether it be related to school or home. Allowing time to sit alone and calm themselves is an important step in getting their minds back to academics. It can be a simple, yet powerful way to show care and honor their needs.
