My Students
Organization is the key to success in life. Many of our students lack the tools necessary to organize their notebooks and ultimately they are academically unsuccessful.
I teach in a high-needs school.
This school, located in an urban environment, can be overwhelming for many of our students. My Global History courses are aimed at preparing students for college and using their knowledge of geography and world history in the real world.
My Project
My students need to learn methods of organizing information; a 3-hole punch plus an Encyclopedia set will put them on the path to organization. We will use these materials to create picture books of the Amazon, Africa and Aztec civilizations. The students will learn to write for a youthful audience, organize information and design graphic novels. Unfortunately we lack high-interest books and on many days it is difficult to access the material in the central library. The Encyclopedia will provide them with instant information.
I want my students to learn that information is power.
Once they create their own textbooks, they will be successful readers and writers. I believe many of our students will be successful in high school, college and the world, once they learn how to organize their notebooks and their lives.
