This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Sitting on a bare floor is never comfortable. Without a classroom rug, opportunities to come together as a class in an inviting space would be limited and very uncomfortable.
My class is compiled with enthusiastic, energetic, and social first graders.
They come to school filled with excitement about life, learning, and sharing with their friends. They live in and attend a school located in a high poverty community in New York.
My Project
With a classroom rug, my students would have a place to gather to listen to stories read aloud, watch me model strategies, have meaningful conversations, and a place to share their thoughts with one another. My students would understand the meaning of a learning community.
Fulfilling this project would mean that my students would have an inviting space for the learning process to begin every day.
It would help me provide my students with many positive learning opportunities and experiences. Without it, would make getting and keeping their attention more difficult.
