My second graders are full of curiosity and potential, but many face significant challenges that make learning harder—especially in reading and math.
I am fortunate enough to have an instructional assistant but there is not a conducive area for her to have small groups and that’s why we’re asking for a kidney-shaped table, specially designed for individualized and small-group instruction.
As students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, our students often start school already behind and need extra support to catch up and thrive.
One of the most effective ways to provide that support is through small-group intervention. This table will become the heart of our classroom intervention space, allowing us to work closely with a few students at a time, targeting their specific needs in a focused and engaging way.
With this kidney table, we can:
Provide direct, targeted reading instruction to improve fluency and comprehension
Offer guided math practice to build foundational skills and confidence
Monitor progress closely and adjust instruction in real time
Create a welcoming space that encourages students to participate, ask questions, and take risks
Your donation will help bridge the gap for students who need more than whole-group instruction can provide. With the right tools—and a kidney table is a big one—we can help every child reach their full potential.
