My students need a carpet to give them a space to gather in groups and for read alouds. This will allow them to feel more comfortable than sitting at their desk or on the hard floor.

My Students
I teach 4th grade math, science, and social studies in a Title 1 school. I have two sets of students during my day. These students are very diverse learners from differing backgrounds, abilities, and walks of life.
Having a rug in the classroom will allow these students to feel "at home" and more comfortable when learning.
My goal each year is to have a safe, warm, and engaging learning environment for my students. Providing a warm rug for most of our learning would greatly help with this.
My Project
A classroom rug gives everyone an enjoyable place to gather and learn. It's a place where the teaching standard shines and learning process begins. Our new classroom rug will accomplish so much for my students. For example, it will be a centralized place where we can meet daily for whole group lessons, read alouds, and small group meetings. A new rug is also the perfect place for mediation when needed, comfort and fairness. Lastly, it will give the students a comfortable retreat during the day as opposed to the hard floor or their chairs.
Research states that kinesthetic learners must get up out of their desk and have the freedom & flexibility to move!
Having a rug will allow my students to move to the floor in comfort, give them a new place to gather, work collaboratively, and read. We are so excited at the thought of having this beautiful new addition to our classroom. Please consider making a donation to bring this project to life.
