This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are challenged economically. We are in a low income school where the community is filled with gangs and violence. We lost 7 students last year alone to gang violence. Having my project funded will help me help my students educational careers easier. We usually struggle with simple things like having a copy of an assignment printed.

My Project
It is the first day of school! Students are exciting about wearing their new outfits or uniforms, breaking the seal of their new notebooks, and showing off their new lunch boxes. Some students may not be able to relate to this experience. They may only have access to used clothing, they may not have new school supplies, and they may have to participate in the free lunch program provided by the school. As the teacher, it is our responsibility to not only treat every student equally, but establish an environment where all students treat each other with respect. How can I do this in a challenged socio-economic community where students worry about their next meal or having a writing utensil instead of learning? With YOUR help.
Our students come to school hungry, sometimes unbathed, or sleepless because of problems at home.
I ask for these items to help me make teaching easier for myself and for them. I don't have access to get my students worksheets. Which is why I asked for a printer. I asked for writing utensils because these are commonly missing in our school. Sometimes those of us that are blessed have the chance to help others. Why not help children?They are what will make the future better, if... if we get it right with them when they are young. Help make the world a better place, by starting with my community of individuals.
