The Happy Sound of Music in Preschool

My students need a xylophone, tambourines, drums, egg shakers, and music CDs for our preschool program.

Children love to explore rhythm and movement and they love to sing. Pre-Kindergarteners need to sing and our classroom could use some materials to help us along. Music encourages children to explore their feelings and to establish positive relationships with others. I teach 18 three and four year olds in a large, urban school in the Bronx. The children come from low-income families and many are learning English for the first time. I am in need of music materials for my classroom. The children need a lullaby CD for naptime and a multicultural music CD for rhythm and movement time. I would also like to introduce my little ones to rhythm and music with colorful egg shakers! The children would love to shake these eggs and hear them rattle. I would also love the children use tambourines to tap out catchy rhythms. They are easy to grip, very sturdy and have built in cymbals. We also need drums for the children to tap on as well as pound on. The drums are strong and come with sturdy mallets. Lastly, every child should have the chance to play on a xylophone. We just need one in the classroom and that would give all the children a chance to play. Music is an integral part of an early childhood classroom. Music helps engage the children in group activities, explore rhythm & movement, identify sounds, improve coordination and also builds phonemic awareness. Music could help my young students learn many early childhood concepts as well as build their self-esteem and cooperation skills. Singing together encourages every child to sing and remember tunes. Music will also help the many children I teach who are learning English.
