Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a public Montessori school in which our students start by learning practical life skills which they will use in everyday life. Our students are an amazing group of 3 to 6 year olds. They stay in our classroom for a three year cycle. The relationships that they develop are inspiring.
Our students come to us from an urban environment in which resources run scarce and teachers have to find imaginative ways to engage our students.
Most of our students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch; however they come to school eager to learn.
My Project
Dr. Montessori believed that “ the hand is the instrument of the mind.” I want to put high-quality Materials in their little hands. Materials that inspire them to create. Vibrant colors to paint and draw masterpieces as they develop hand eye coordination.
I have carefully chosen a variety of high quality paints, crayons and pencils that are developmentally appropriate as they learn to develop control of their hand muscles.
I believe my students deserve the best. I want them to have art materials that educate their senses and condition their minds for higher learning. Giving children good art supplies tells them their artwork is worth the very best.
