In my general music class, we have the technological resources to teach basic piano skills, but no textbooks. In order to fully teach sequential skills on piano, beginning piano textbooks are needed. Research has shown that music helps soothe the mind and soul and helps you academically focus. For some students, my class is the only musical experience they have. Also, learning how to play the piano helps you learn all of the necessary music skills: theory, ear-training, and sight-reading- all of these skills transfer to all other instruments. All that is needed are sequential piano textbooks for practice. These will be classroom textbooks, so they will benefit approximately 40 students a year. Please help the growth of music in public schools and allow students to have a positive experience in music.
