This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My classroom is full of hardworking fifth grade students. I teach in a moderate poverty environment where each child's experiences are challenging.
The study of plants seemed to be a struggle in my classroom. My students have never grown plants on their own and do not have gardens available to them. Plants are a thing of mystery for my students. Even though our classroom looks out into a small landscaped area, students have not made a contribution to it.
We need planting resources such as pots and a small area to grow plants. Students will then be able to grow plants to bring home to start their own gardens and also make our landscaped area beautiful! This will help students personalize their school!
With your support these students will get a chance they may never have had or get in the future. They will be given the opportunity to grow plants on their own, learn about plants, and make a personal contribution to the school! You can help give these students an opportunity they will always remember!
