My students need a classroom projector so that I can maximize differentiated instruction by using audio and visual teaching strategies.

My Students
Everyday, I tell my kids to "do your best," "no excuses," "work hard"... "don't quit!" However, despite my motivational speeches my below grade level learners, struggling readers, non-English speakers, and special needs students already feel defeated.
According to the data, I teach at one of my district's 19 "failing" schools.
We are located the middle one of inner city Miami's toughest neighborhoods, Little Haiti. Our school is funded by Title 1, a government initiative dedicated to "improving the academic achievement of the disadvantaged." Although the nearest beach is only 15 minutes away, most of my students have been only a few times in their lives, and others have never been at all. On average, each of my students have at least 2 other siblings. Some of them live in local shelters and others in the nearby public housing. School, our classroom specifically, is their only refuge. Each time we laugh, sing songs, talk about their dreams, or celebrate their achievements, I am overwhelmed by the amount of visibly suppressed potential. Their energy and quest for learning is so palpable. My students are some of the hardest workers I know and they deserve the best.
My Project
At home, our students watch hundreds of captivating images streaming every second on the television. The things that interest them the most are music, videos, cartoons, sports, colorful graphics, and video games. This generation is unique and therefore requires unique academic instruction.
Today, there are so many ways that technology can impact our students' lives. As a matter of fact, almost all of the professional development courses that my district requires new teachers take, discuss one website or another where we can maximize our students' learning with technology. There are infinite online resources at my fingertips but my school lacks the technological resources necessary to support them. In an elementary school of 600+ students, there are only 3 working multimedia projectors that all teachers must share.
I've seen the looks on my students' faces when it's our class' day to have the projector. Their faces light up and they immediately become enamored.
It's amazing to literally see and feel their desire for learning come to life.
Having a classroom projector will completely transform our learning community. They will be as excited to come to school EVERY day as they are on "projector day" and the resources I've learned about will finally be useful. My auditory learners will listen, my visual learners will look, my non-English speakers will finally understand, and everyone will learn. This projector will have an amazing impact on my students.
