This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students all have different learning styles. They vary by grade and developmental abilities. They have individualized learning goals which need to be met in order to perform in a general education population. My students work hard and are always eager to engage in activities which make learning fun. They love to laugh and share their successes with our school community. The majority benefit from multi-sensory approaches to learning. They respond to reading programs that deliberately use sight, sound, movement and touch to help them connect language to words. Manipulatives (small objects like interlocking cubes or shape blocks) help my students calculate math problems that are generally challenging.
Using multi-sensory strategies gives my students more ways to access the curriculum while having fun when learning.
At our school, we take pride in our inclusive setting, and want to offer our students with special needs all the tools necessary to function and make gains just like their peers.
My Project
The resources and materials chosen will enhance literacy, math and writing skills in a fun way. They will give students the independence to practice concepts taught. My students will also have the opportunity to use these resources to help develop their motor skills.
My amazing students work hard to meet their independent goals and they come to sessions eager to learn.
They are engaged when given opportunities to practice new concepts in creative ways.
I witness their growth on a daily basis and use it as inspiration to develop new and exciting ways to learn and practice skills needed to progress.
