My Project

As a third-grade teacher, I am always seeking ways to spark a love of reading in my students. By adding both nonfiction and fictional books to our classroom library, I can offer a broader variety of engaging, age-appropriate reading materials. Nonfiction books provide valuable opportunities for students to explore the world around them—whether it’s animals, space, or history—while fiction allows them to experience new perspectives and use their imaginations. A diverse collection of books ensures every student can find something that interests them, which supports reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and curiosity across subjects.

One of my goals this year is to encourage my students to appreciate the joy of reading physical books.

In a digital world, the simple pleasure of holding a book, turning its pages, and exploring illustrations helps create a personal and meaningful reading experience. Having a well-stocked classroom library encourages students to take ownership of their reading choices and builds positive reading habits. When books are readily available, students are more likely to read during independent reading time, finish books they enjoy, and share recommendations with their classmates.

My students are bright, curious, and enthusiastic about learning. They light up when we read together and often ask for more time with books they love. However, our classroom library needs more high-interest titles to meet their growing interests and reading levels. With your support, I can provide my students with books that will not only help them grow academically but also build a lifelong love for reading.
