Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

More than 30 percent of our students are bilingual, and we receive an influx of newcomers each year from countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, Guatemala, and the Dominican.

I have watched first-hand how baseball provides a bridge to help these students transition to a new culture and to help other students stay motivated to do well academically.

However, we are a Title I school. Many of our players are disadvantaged. They rarely can afford to purchase basic equipment like gloves and cleats. Our equipment budget is not enough to provide these items for our players to use during their high school careers.
