My Students

My students are from a small town with working class people, who value education as a way to get ahead in life. Many of them could be the first generation to go on to a post secondary school. They all have dreams but so often those dreams get put on hold due to a lack of some basic items that will show them what is out there for them. I feel like it is my duty as a teacher to show each of them that there are careers out there that they would succeed at and enjoy but so many of them don't even know that those careers are out there.

My Project

My students currently use the LEGO core sets and we would love to expand on what we are doing with the expansion sets. We get into building and programming these robotic builds and my students would love to continue to create new and more creative builds. Unfortunately, we are limited on materials with the core set so to be able to get these expansion sets would open another level of creating to them.

To be able to create without limits would allow my students to really grow their knowledge and interest in the field of manufacturing and robotics.

Many of my students will continue to a trade school or go directly into the job field after high school. This creating will open up their thinking of what is out there and what they are capable of doing for a career.
