Our school serves students in grades 7 through 12 and is located one block from city hall. Students live in many areas of the city. For these at-risk students with habitual truancy, behavior issues, and histories of suspension and expulsion, the goal is to change behavior so that these students will stay in school and earn enough credits to graduate.
We are creating a series of classes for "life skills" where students can choose projects and activities that include history, science, literacy, and art!
My Project
JP wants this camera to record aspects of climate change.
JP wants to take photos showing impact of drought & lack of rain on our school garden.
Students are planting food plants & native plants in the school garden which is located on the end of the parking lot in raised beds. JP has been observing & taking notes on how much watering students have to do this year. This October was the 5th driest October on record going back to the Gold Rush era.
Now JP would like to take photos to document how this climate change impacts our school garden over the next few months.
