Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in my resource room can vary depending on the needs of the students. I am a 3rd and 4th grade special educator. My students arrive to school eager and ready to learn math and reading. They have special learning needs and my desire for them is to achieve 1 to 2 years in their studies.
My students are from various Spanish-speaking countries, they're from the inner city, and mostly active boys.
They are kind, smart and determined to learn. They are unique because they strive to do the best that they can every day. My school is a place that is accepting of cultural, linguistic, and academic differences. It is a Title One school that serves the students free lunch and receives a lot of support beyond education for our families. My school is a place where the parents can feel safe dropping their children off and knowing they will be safe, loved and educated.
My Project
My students will be able to use the set of math folder games, quickies, a regrouping activity chart, write and wipe boards, a number hunt, markers, and other hand-on resources in the classroom during math instruction. My students will be able to use these math materials and the core disk cushions to help them be successful in math. They will learn how to work together with their peers, while having fun adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Most importantly, the students who are two years behind in their math skills will be able to close their learning gaps.
The donations to this project will make my classroom math centered and the students will develop a love for math.
This project will change the students' because they will have a variety of ways to learn different concepts. In addition, I believe their skills will increase and they will have less of a math deficit and math will be fun and engaging. My students will be able to compete for challenging jobs in technology and math in the 21st Century.
