Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

For this project, I want to give all of my students a more dynamic creating space. I submitted this same project with a cap of just 8 students and luckily it was funded! Since receiving the items, my students have been overjoyed at the idea of creating and lounging comfortably on the carpet! I was not aware of how many students wanted alternative seating options! Now, I am asking donors to help extend that project to cover a full classroom's worth of students. Some students enjoy sitting at their desks, some enjoy standing, and there is also a group of students who prefer to create while lounging on the rug. As an art teacher, I try to be as accommodating of my student's wants and needs as possible.

I feel that providing them with clipboards large enough for their paper and soft seating will help nurture their creative spirits even more!

I want my students to feel free to be themselves in my classroom and one of the easiest ways to do that is to allow them the freedom of creating the way they want to.

My goal for this project is to provide the students who already requested to do their work on the carpet a more comfortable experience and my hope is to also use these supplies as an incentive for good behavior.
