This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a very diverse group of second-grade students eager to make a difference in the world! They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are on the road to becoming strong, independent people that will inspire others and change the world.
My second graders are enthusiastic hard workers in a California Distinguished STEM Magnet School.
Our school is located in a low-income area. It is 100% Title I and all students qualify for free lunch.
However, because of limited resources, not all classrooms are equipped with enough supplies to meet the needs of the students.
My Project
Our second grade classroom has a Star Wars theme, and getting the Star Wars rewards will be a great addition to our treasure box and will boost motivation, improve behavior, and results!
Rewards create a feeling of pride and achievement among students thus motivating them to be more productive.
Motivating students to learn and to participate can be very hard. Therefore, there are advantages to adding a reward system to our classroom. Students learn to conform to positive behaviors, they show interest and raise their participation in the everyday classroom tasks, responsibilities and learning.
Having incentives for students will motivate them to be more productive, and have more self-confidence. Overall, rewarding students for their hard work leads to improved outcomes for all.
