This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking, intelligent, and active learners. They are especially hardworking when they are engaged in the topic at hand. My students are mostly ELL students who are spending their first year in a regular ELA classroom.

The quantity of quality material in the classroom is lacking; my students are more than willing to work with any available material.

Most students are struggling with the language of some of the text presented this year.

As an educator, I would like to provide them with a chance to feel success with an engaging text that will be on their level.

My Project

This novel, The Five People You Meet in Heaven, is written in a student friendly manner. It is on grade level for my students which will help them feel successful and accomplished when engaging in activities, group work, and literary discussions.

Most of my students are spending their first year out of their ELL classes in a regular ELA class.

I'm hoping that I can pique their interest in reading a bit more with an engaging book.

Since this is my favorite book of all time, I was hoping that I would be able to share my excitement for reading with my students through a novel that engages them.
