This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Mariachi Ensemble at my high school is such an exciting group of interests, abilities, and goals. Some of the students are learning how to read and play music for the first time, others are learning how to play an instrument for the first time in their lives while some of their classmates, are learning to further their musical skills and musical expression in their instrument. Our ensembles enjoys to play a variety of Traditional and Non Traditional Mexican Folk Music.

My students are music enthusiasts, powerful performers, and avid learners.

The students in this ensemble are passionate, responsible and invested in making an impact in the lives of their peers through their musical performances. As musicians, instruments are important for the progress of my students. Many of our students can not afford to buy or rent instruments. Our students often work with instruments that are in extremely poor working conditions. Regardless of this obstacle, our students continue to grow day by day thanks to the enthusiasm of their peers and their motivation to perform at school and community events. The work we do in this ensemble helps our students bring new cultural and musical experiences to our campus.
