Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our campus has an enrichment program for 4th and 5th graders called Boys in Blazers. This club is the ultimate guide to teach our young men at our campus how to be respectful to themselves, become leaders, and gentlemen each and every day.

The need for Boys in Blazers arose because we felt our older boys needed to acquire basic skills and valuable behaviors in a positive way.

Our disciplinary numbers were high and our young men were seeking attention in anyway they could. Students in the club are seen as valuable and are encouraged to be role models. The positive influence they exude can be recognized by their teachers and peers.

The members learn valuable lessons throughout the year that will last them a lifetime. These lessons have included, but are not limited to, respectful interactions with peers (especially ladies), the power of professional attire, financial literacy, creating small businesses, culinary preparations, car maintenance, and the importance of charitable services.

These young men really impressed me by their dedication, curiosity, and thirst for guidance. These explicit lessons have ignited the spark to keep these good habits in motion.

My Project

The members of our club, “Boys in Blazers” are seeking just that ...BLAZERS for young gentlemen. The boys joined our club to be inspired and command respect by learning how to take care of themselves and others. They have committed to keeping up their grades, exhibiting respectable behavior in and out of the classroom, and establishing their willingness to be open-minded and proactive leaders.

Wearing these blazers will be a reminder that being a gentlemen is always in style!

The values we have incorporated and foundation we have set in place will reach others. These gentlemen will feel a sense of honor and responsibility when interacting with their peers.
