I have a fabulous class that is excited to learn and have hands on experiences with the world. Many of them come from backgrounds that limit what is available to them and often don't see much past their TV, front door, or grocery store. They desire more than just paper and pencil work. That want to touch and feel what the world has to offer. They love to learn by exploration and are eager to connect their personal experiences to their current understanding.
My Project
I never new how exciting rocks could be until I took an amazing rock class and was able to use a magnifier to explore the different characteristics of rocks. I found myself looking all summer at rocks.
We need rocks, magnifiers, and books to make our rock study much more exciting than just doing worksheets and being told about rocks.
For this reason I believe that these supplies will allow my students to have hands on experience with rocks which will enrich their lives and experiences for many years to come. I believe it will give them memories that they will talk about for years.
