This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love how all the students are always so excited about learning. The students are always motivated by what we are teaching. In spite of the challenges they face daily, they always show up with a smile and are ready to learn. Even though they come from a low socio-economic background, nothing interferes with their desire to learn a new subject. Most of my students are in class everyday.

My Project

I want my students to aspire to greater things in life. I am trying to get them to experience the excitement of shooting a rocket into outer space. By reading a story about space, I am hoping to capture their imagination of the process involved in the launching of a rocket in outer space.

I am hoping that this will create a desire to someday become an engineer or spaceman.

I want my students to know that there are many possibilities that they can explore during their life. Building, creating, or launching a rocket is only a few of the opportunities they will have in life to explore.

In the classroom, we will read the story then write about the process involved in launching a rocket. We then will plan a day to invite our parents to come to see our rockets launch.
