My Project
My school is located at the busy intersection of the U Street corridor. The student body is a blend of Washington D.C. natives and newcomers, all united by their affection for the nation's capital. The historical significance of U Street, a scene glued to the history of past presidents, renowned singers, celebrated actors, and other celebrities, makes learning here an extraordinary experience. The cultural beauty of U Street is not just to be studied; it's to be experienced and contributed to. It is both an honor and a privilege for my students to engage with and relate to this rich culture. They are set to express their explorations through various artistic mediums, including art, music, films, and spoken words, such as poetry, podcasts, and speeches.
To effectively participate in and contribute to the community, my students require cameras to capture images and conduct interviews with the residents and entrepreneurs along U Street.
Their goal is to create a documentary that captures the essence of the area, and to share their findings through diverse community events. Consequently, there is a pressing need for multimedia tools such as Bi-Color LED Video Light, cameras, microphones, and streaming switchers. Additionally, to maintain their energy during the extended hours after school—also contributing to their community service hours, which are essential for graduation—students will benefit from refreshments like coffee. Moreover, each student will need access to a MacBook Laptop, which will serve as the cornerstone for storing, editing, and disseminating the videos, photographs, and podcasts they produce.
