Help me give my students essential supplies for school activities such as pencils, dry erase markers, scissors, pens, and grid paper for mathematical equations!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is full of children that are trying to get the best education possible, while dealing with many issues in their home and social lives. I teach at a Title I school and many of these students come from a less than ideal background. These children are 9 and 10 years old who have been through more hardship than I have in my 32 years of life.
A high percentage of these students are also English Language Learners and have that additional challenge.
They really do their best and have the "yearning for learning", but this is an additional challenge. I am inspired daily how resilient and tenacious the students are in their lives and their education.
My students range in grade level abilities from K-5. Most of the students are in the 2-3 range. I have 7 special need students this year. Some of my fourth graders are so severe that they cannot even write their whole name.
My students struggle with many things. Some social, some academic. I am hoping to be able to use your generous donations to motivate, teach to my best ability, and maintain an atmosphere where the students feel safe and considered.
My Project
These materials will help my students immensely. I am asking for supplies that are absolutely necessary towards my students success. I am asking for dry erase board supplies so my students can have a fun way to practice their math and grammar. I am also requesting a replenishment of pencils and pens. We use the pens for correcting assignments. Also, since indoor recess is a reality I am asking for some board games so that the students can be entertained during the days that they need to stay indoors.
Every student deserves to have their basic scholastic needs met.
I work in a community where we cannot ask parents to donate school supplies. We are not able to send a list of school supplies needed at the beginning of the year. Because of this, our legislative budget does not go as far as it should. By the end of the year, supplies have diminished or have been broken or lost. Thank you so much for being willing to donate to a classroom full of wonderful, hard working students in Utah!
