This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at the tip of Texas, bordering Mexico, where my students speak Spanglish. They face many challenges such as dyslexia, special needs, and are socioeconomically disadvantaged, but that doesn't stop them from dreaming big.
They are determined, hard-working children, willing to learn no matter their circumstances.
I teach second-grade bilingual students who inspire me daily. These students come every day excited to start class. They enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, group activities, and especially working with technology. They face many challenges, but they don't let these challenges take over their learning experience.
Many students are economically disadvantaged. Many come without knowing English, but with their determination and support from their families, they can conquer everything. However, none of those factors affect these children because they want to learn. It is very satisfying seeing all these children progress throughout the school year.
I work at a very supportive school where students come first. We are all about meeting their needs. Our administrators have created a safe, happy environment for everyone: students, staff, teachers, and parents. I love working at the very tip of Texas, where my students are unique and wonderful.
My Project
During this pandemic, many of our students have suffered mentally and emotionally. As a teacher, I am always trying to bring a little joy to my students in many ways possible.
Christmas is a very special time for every child and I want to make all second grade students feel the emotion of getting a special present.
This project will ensure that over 100 students will receive a personalized Elf after reading the “The Elf on the Shelf Book.” What a great surprise will they all have to see they own their own elf! This will help with their emotional and mental health. Many of our families are low-income. Many can’t afford a nice present. But I believe this thoughtful present will make all second graders feel safe and happy at our school. Please make this project come true. With your generosity, this can happen!
