Help me give my students access to the supplies necessary to learn a variety of special effects makeup techniques for theater such a a makeup mirror and various makeup kits.
We have a fledgling theatre program with excited, talented students! They're working tirelessly to bring this art to our small, little spot on the map. In true theatre fashion, most of them can barely contain their enthusiasm! Who am I kidding?! They're ecstatic to have a place where they feel like they belong.
These kids come from a rural, consolidated school in the delta.
Collectively, the communities have an above average poverty rate. The students range from eighth to twelfth grade.These kids are incredibly hard working and deserving.
These students are excited to get started planning, creating and expressing themselves through stage makeup! Part of stage craft is learning how to develop characters and set scenes using every available resource. This project will help them expand their knowledge of staging through the use of makeup.
My Project
My students need special effects make up kits and personal lighted make up mirrors. They also need access to books with tutorials about how to do various types of stage make up. The supplies and instructional materials listed within this grant will allow my students the opportunity to learn how to design and apply theatrical special effects makeup by giving them first hand experience in doing just that! They'll be able to go through the trial and error process, learn from each other, and help each other with hands-on activities designed to teach them proper technique. I so look forward to their mastery of technique, because I have full confidence that mastery will lead to an incredible amount of outside the box creativity! Nothing boosts the confidence of a student like being noticed for the from-scratch work they did with their own imagination and hands!
