My Project

My students have been learning about the watershed in our community. The watershed is about a ten minute walk from our school. We take walks to the watershed and explore nature. The students love to bird watch and we also take samples of the water to identify the creatures that live in our watershed. While visiting our watershed we discuss the different bodies of water and how they end up going to the ocean. On each trip we clean up the watershed removing trash to help keep our watershed clean to protect the creatures that live there.

I would love to give my students the opportunity to paint using acrylic paint on a small canvas.

Paint is expensive and we need large paint containers for the entire class to participate. Since this is a first grade class we will be turning their hand into a bird and adding a background to the canvas. This canvas will be displayed at our Watershed Expo where parents and community members will help us reflect on our learning. Each student has a canvas, but we are in need of the paint, acrylic markers, and brushes to make this project successful.
