My Project

Dramatic play or "playing pretend" is one of the most popular ways to play in our pre-k classroom. Not only is it a fun way for students to emulate the adults in their lives, but it helps build communication skills with their peers, problem-solve, and express themselves. It also helps them navigate different "roles" that they see which helps them process the parts of the world that they experience in their lives.

In our classroom we also want to acknowledge that not everyone wants to play "house" and sometimes their dramatic play can take the form of pirates or, the current favorite, superheroes.

We want to provide different options so that our students are able to play imaginatively in ways that appeal to them.
