My Students

Our school is a middle/high school in the urban area of Maryland. We focus on educating our students to become great leaders and citizens. Students are celebrated for exhibiting our school's core values: integrity, scholarship, citizenship, perseverance, and sustainability.

My students learn best through real-world applications, hands-on activities, and authentic experiences.

They work super hard and they are eager to learn. I teach students with diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds. My students are in various grade levels, but they all thrive when they get to "do" science!

For the 2021-2022 school year, I am teaching AP Seminar, AP Research, and Independent Study: Science. STEM/STEAM hands-on activities, cross-curricular projects, and laboratory investigations help my students to learn and apply concepts.

Having experiences dealing with research in high school will better prepare them for their future college and career choices. AP Seminar and AP Research allow them to explore themes, develop and refine their reading and writing skills, earn college credit, and so much more. Independent Study: Science allows them to explore topics within science that are interesting to them. I am so excited to be teaching these courses!

My Project

My students' interest in the medical field is evident. They refer to "doctor" TV shows like Grey's Anatomy and Chicago Med and ask questions about what they saw in an episode and reality. Several of them want to pursue a career in the medical field.

These STEM kits will help my students practice the skills and concepts they need in the medical field.

With these kits, students will learn about fracture reductions, aseptic surgical techniques, diagnosing a disease, and more! Hands-on kits like these are the best way for my students to learn. The mobile workstation will allow my students that need alternative seating to have an option for that.
