This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a total of 32 special education students who are functioning way below their grade level. Many of their gaps in math go back to 1st grade. Coupled with the fact that they are academically deficient, many of them experience extreme poverty, hunger, drug environments, parent incarcerations, and much more. My school is one of the lowest-performing schools in the district.
My students deserve the best education possible and appreciate the support they receive from family, friends, and the community.
Our school like many others require students to wear masks to combat the spread of the COVID virus. Unfortunately, far too many students are coming to school without masks which leaves me no option but to purchase masks for them.
Many of the masks are also to big for them which exposes their noses. These adjustable cloth masks will provide each student a face mask that offers a proper fit. Having individually wrapped disposable masks is also ideal for those students who left theirs at home or may need to change throughout the day. Please help my students stay in school by providing them face masks to protect them from germs.
My Project
One of the major changes that resulted from the pandemic is the requirement that all students and staff wear masks while at school. I am requesting masks, hand sanitizers and Lysol wipes to keep them safe.
I welcomed back my students to the classroom in September but coming to school was a bit different.
Masks were now required to be worn daily.
I would like to help ease the burden on families that are unable to provide new masks daily and also prevent any embarrassment that students would feel if they had to come to class without their masks. I want each child to to feel as if they belong irrespective of which home they come from.
