My Project

Our gifted dance program is designed to nurture talent. The application of these skills later is used in the performing arts field. Each year our program has two formal concerts in our school theatre. We want to begin offering videography training for dancers to begin documenting their performances.

My goal is to begin training our fifth and sixth grade students how to use the camera equipment.

By the time dancers are in eighth grade they will have the skills to record performances independently. These skills include what angles to use, how to make the picture and audio clear, and mastering editing software. Each year we hire an outside company to record and edit our shows. Videographer skills can be used in their educational settings and jobs, so it has a real-world connection. Our intention is to let dancers practice the pre-professional role.

What makes our students special is their natural ability to excel at what they apply themselves to. We can see them grow and blossom and advocate for themselves and the program. We are asking for a video camera and a tripod to document performances for the student repertoire library, class assessments, assignments, and performances.
