This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an educator and a teacher, it is important each day I come prepared and do my best for each child. This begins and ends with having what the students need me to have. In reality this is about giving them a home away from home. Many of my children come from poverty and lives of chaos and need more than anything to have a place that is warm, and friendly and fun.

We all need a home away from home.

Warm earth tone carpets, comfortable places to sit. Noise canceling headphones to block out the world when needed, and fun activities to do in their down time.

My Project

Learning is not just about teaching them facts and figures, nouns, and syllables. It is about creating a place where they want to learn. The warm earth tone carpets, a bean bag chair to sit in, and games to place when they have a free moment all create that environment.

A warm classroom is a place learning can happen.

Each day when a child comes to school they need to feel like it is a home away from home. Help me do this. Together school can be more than books and learning.
