Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our district has started a campaign to prepare students for success by instilling important attributes at an early age. Our goal is to create a portrait of a graduate. From kindergarten to senior year, we offer learning opportunities to help develop these attributes. One of the attributes is to become a thoughtful collaborator. Students who are able to work successfully with others in many areas of life, are better prepared at graduation.

I am requesting these items to create a classroom environment that will give students the opportunity to utilize the classroom for collaboration.

Our school is over 60 years old and doesn’t have the modern furniture that the newer schools do. I would love to use the mats so that students can work on the cold floor where there is not rug. I would also like to be able to move the seating around so that students can accommodate different numbers of group members.

I am very excited about the learning opportunities that these flexible seating options could provide.
