Help me give my students access to a new printer and toner that will provide colorful visual aids in the classroom as needed to make learning comprehensible and engaging.
I teach in a school district with students from various backgrounds, including low income, special needs and English language learners, many of which receive free lunches and are faced with various challenges in school and in the communities they live in. Despite these challenges, my students come to school every day, on time, and ready to learn.
My students bring a lot of energy and excitement to school, along with the strong desire to learn to read, write, and speak better.
They love to learn through various modalities such as music, movement, technology, and art. When we use music videos to learn our sight words, or skills needed to blend words, I see their eyes light up. They are fully engaged and motivated in learning. I need to utilize various tools and methods that will continue to put that sparkle in their eyes to help my students to be successful and become lifelong learners.
My Project
All of my students need and want to be excited about learning, but demanding academic vocabulary makes this challenging at times. I am a support staff who works with students who have special needs and English language learners. My classroom printer recently broke down, so providing students with visual supports has become very difficult.
Being able to provide a colorful visual math and science word wall that provides students with access to learning would be very beneficial.
Trying to explain abstract math or science concepts for some students is easier when I have something in color to catch and hold their attention. Having a classroom printer which is available whenever I need it will support me in reaching our most challenged students,
