My Students

I have an AMAZING group of dynamic students who love to engage in new learning experiences and make connections. While in-person, we generally embark on community-based field trips about once a week visiting many places within our city and suburbs, such as science and art museums, restaurants, zoos, supermarkets, and more. Another part of our curriculum relies heavily on foundational life skills, such as cooking and kitchen hygiene. By collaboratively reading recipes and making food, the students have increased their self-esteem while learning practical skills.

My Project

I teach a dynamic, beautiful, and energetic classroom of students. Until now, I have not been able to find crayons or markers in colors that represent them. When they create a self-portrait they are limited in their choices to truly see how unique they are. I know they will be excited to have access to materials to represent themselves. I recently acquired a bookshelf and multicultural books that represent my students, which is critical to their identity and self-esteem. The book caddies will be helpful with guided reading or math groups to keep all supplies in one space.
